by Kenny Smith, Rutherglen Reformer
THE King’s Park doctors’ surgery was in celebratory mood recently.
Doctors and Staff within the King’s Park Surgery, were delighted when Glasgow South MP Tom Harris arrived to present them with the Royal College of General Practitioners Quality Practice Award (QPA) for excellence in primary care recently.
The awards were presented to GP Dr Josephine Bell, GP Dr Philip McNaught, Practice Manager and the entire Practice Team .
The Practice Manager for the King’s Park Surgery, based at 274 King’s Park Avenue, said: “The practice found the experience of undertaking the QPA very rewarding and we are extremely proud of our success.
“The entire practice and primary healthcare team have worked extremely hard over the past 18 months to provide an excellent quality of healthcare for the people of King’s Park and Croftfoot. This award is a culmination of all that hard work.
“Everyone has ownership of their area and has contributed to something in the practice.
“The award was for all the staff and they took considerable pride in achieving it as did our patients. It allowed us to appreciate each others roles within the practice and improve morale and team working.
“Members of staff took responsibility for delivery of certain areas of the award and rose to the task creating satisfaction and a great sense of achievement in their work."
Only 100 practices in Scotland have achieved QPA status.
Tom Harris MP added: “I think it’s absolutely excellent - I believe that something like just 10 per cent of practices in Scotland have achieved this.
“It’s a fantastic achievement and I’m really pleased for them. Half of the patients are based in my side of the constituency, and the other half are in the Rutherglen side, but I was delighted to go along and meet with the team.”
